Ashlar Park Recognized with Global Architecture & Design Award

Ashlar Park, a new residential campus in Quincy, Massachusetts, designed by Arrowstreet, was recently awarded a Global Architecture & Design Award for Housing. The park-like campus includes 465 housing units among four buildings and preserves nearly 40% of the site as a defacto conservation space for the city.

Originally part of John Adams’ farm and later serving as the Quincy Hospital site from 1890 to 2020, the landscape design bridges the past and future. A scenic walk connects the campus with the nearby MBTA station while creating universal access routes on a significantly sloping site. Expansive green spaces add resilience to the site by mitigating the urban heat island effect, improving stormwater management and enhancing air quality all while creating space for informal gatherings and active play.
